During 2020 and 2021 I studied the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and quarantine on mental health and translated those impressions into glass by casting from my face. “Covid Scream” expresses the horrors of the pandemic and the internal struggles and challenges each individual across the world faces. “Nonessential Suffocation” a reaction to the forced closure of business during the lockdown, expresses feelings of helplessness as services were labeled “non essential”. The cruel irony is my own studio brings so much joy to people that artists often refer to it as their “happy place”. “Veil of Tears” weeps for the losses; loss of life, loss of health, loss of freedom, loss of jobs, and loss of safety.
