This piece was commissioned by the City of Eagle for the newly constructed Community Center. The artwork captures the beautiful setting of the city which is nestled between the Boise Foothills and the Boise River. This beauty makes Eagle an ideal location to live and work while providing a home for abundant wildlife.
Our nest! incorporates proprietary hardware and firmware developed in collaboration with Cory Reche, an electrical engineer. Individually addressable LEDs change to reflect a day cycle and the changing seasons. Subtly interactive, the viewer can move within the room until the moon creates the perfect eye within the Eagle cutout depending on the viewer’s height and location. Measuring 4 feet by 8 inches by 6 feet, the scene is housed in a maple frame with two layers of fused glass behind the cutout.
